The Inaugural Season

The girls started the season on December 8, against Desert Hot Springs, beating them 15-6. During the game nine different players scored, including five by Abby York and two each by Stephanie Glendenning and Cassie Luna.

Christin Boebinger performs a perfect lunge blockThe girls then faced CIF ranked, powerhouse Hemet in their first league game and were defeated 12-2, with Jessica Aarts scoring the two goals for the Wolves. The JV lost to the Bulldogs 5-2.

The Wolves then traveled to Temescal Canyon and faced an aggressive Titan team, losing 7-12. The JV team won their game against the Titans 6-4.

The varsity beat Perris H.S. at Ramona, while the JV lost 1-2. The Wolves then traveled to Murrieta Valley to face the Nighthawks. The varsity lost 7-20, but their potential was beginning to show. The JV were defeated 11-0.

Amanda Pitts makes a passBack to Temescal Canyon to play Elsinore H.S.. The Wolves had a three to two lead going into the fourth quarter but were tied at the end of regulation 4-4. During the overtime, King was outscored 2-0, losing the game 4-6. The JV lost 5-9.

Back at Ramona H.S., the Wolves hosted the Ramona Rams, beating them 9-5 for their third victory of the season. Abby contributed four goals, Amanda Pitts added three and Jessica Aarts scored 2 during the victory. The JV won to complete the sweep, beating the Rams 9-2, behind four goals by Katie Johnson and two goals each from Erica Nelson and Leslie Miskulin.

Abby York makes a stealThe second round of league play started with a trip to Hemet, where the Wolves faced two well tuned Bulldog teams. The next game had the Wolves hosting Temescal Canyon at Ramona H.S.. The Wolves held the Titans to five goals, but only Christin Boebinger was able to score, getting the only two goals in the 2-5 defeat. Still, a much better showing then the first round. The JV won 5-3, with Katie Johnson scoring three and Erica Nelson adding the other two.

The team then traveled to Perris and faced a strong shooting Panther team, losing the rematch 5-10. The JV won their game 6-1, with Emily Neuman scoring two goals during their game.

Stephanie Glendenning goes to the goalThen came the rematch of the overtime game against Elsinore. The Wolves had a one goal lead going into the fourth quarter but were unable to score to protect it with the game ending in a tie after regulation. During the two, three minute overtime periods, each team scored one goal apiece. Elsinore put the ball past the Wolves goalie with 35 seconds remaining in the sudden death overtime, resulting in a 6-7 defeat. The JV team were able to win their game 3-1.

After three postponements, the Wolves faced the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks. During their first round, the Wolves were defeated 7-20. The second round was a little different. The Wolves played great defense, but were only able to score three goals themselves, with Tara Stukey scoring one of them and Jessica Aarts and Amanda Pitts the other two. The Wolves lost 3-8, but played much better than during the first round. The JV were defeated 2-6.

King then traveled to Jurupa Valley, for a non-league game where both teams lost, but played well.

The season closer was against Ramona H.S. at Ramona. The Wolves dominated the game from the start. Abby York scored nine goals, Jessica Aarts scored four, and Stephanie Glendenning added one. Both of the goalies, Lindsay Nichols and Katie Vaughn allowed only one goal during their half of play.
