The
clock may say five minutes to go, but the game is over, the score is King 15,
Ramona 0 and Lindsay Nichols has
earned the first shutout in the history of girls' water polo at King High
School. With a very strong man-to-man defense in front of her, Lindsay played
strong in the goal to get her first shutout. While Lindsay was defending the
goal, the offense took care of the win. Ten different players scored during the
game. The starting varsity gave the Wolves a three goal lead after the first
quarter that saw Cassie Luna score her two
goals and Stephanie Glendenning
get one of her three. The offense kicked into high gear during the second
period.
Stephanie
scored two more goals while Abby York, Emily
Neumann, Sami Chalfy, Dayna
Van Gorder, Erica Nelson, and Lauren
Boebinger each scored goals to make the score 11-0 at the half. King slowed
the pace during the third period with Sami and Dayna each scoring one goal a
piece to make the score 13-0 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Katie
Johnson and Christin Boebinger
each scored goals during the fourth and final period as the defense kept the
pressure on the Rams to preserve the Lindsay's shutout and the Wolf's 15-0 win.
