Kristin Moorman named to the All Tournament Team Vs. La Jolla This was the third game of the day. Unfortunately we got off to a slow start being down 3-6 at half. Pictures Monday January 18th at Noon. Location Kristin Moorman's House 5 Counties Tournament at King Jan 14-16 BracketsWe played some of our best water polo this weekend. We still have some adjustments to make, some conditioning to improve on, and some fundamentals that need some attention, but we are moving in the right direction. We placed 3rd out of 32 teams, beating Arlington for the first time ever. During the tournament we beat the #5 ranked team in division 3 (La Serna), the #3 ranked team in division 5 (REV) and the #2 ranked team in division 5 (Arlington). Nice job ladies.
Danika Bell and Andrea Antonissen were named to the All tournament team.
Vs. Arlington This was an interesting game. Arlington is a very well coached team, with a good goalie, and an outstanding (maybe the best we have played all year) player. Our goal going into the game was to try and shot down that player. We felt if we held her to 3 or 4 goals, we had a shot at winning the game. Since we had that defensive outlook going into the game, the game didn't have much flow to it. It was much different then the last three games we had played. The girls did well adjusting to the different style of game, and the different defense. We held Arlington's player to just 3 goals, and we were able to win 8-6. Stat Leaders: Danika Bell (4 goals, 1 assist, 2 drawn ejections), Kristin Moorman (1 goal, 1 assist, 1 drawn ejection), Jamison Mahar (1 assist, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Bre Ritter (1 goal, 1 drawn ejection), Saibrah White (1 goal, 2 steals), Destene Albers (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 steals, 4 drawn ejections), Andrea Antonissen (13 saves, 2 steals, 1 assist).
Vs. Santiago Although our effort was better and we played a little cleaner game, we still have some work and improvement to do if we play Santiago again. We lost 9-2. Stat Leaders: Destene Albers (2 drawn ejections), Saibrah White (1 goal, 1 assist, 3 steals, 1 drawn ejection), Jamison Mahar (3 steals), Kristin Moorman (1 goal, 2 steals, 4 drawn ejections), Danika Bell (1 drawn ejection), Andrea Antonissen (10 saves, 1 steal).
Vs. La Serna I have been looking forward to this game since the schedule for the tournament came out. We lost to La Serna earlier in the year, so it was going to be a good game to see if we have improved. We lost the first game 13-4, this game we won 8-7. So there has definitely been improvement. We started off a little slow. We were down 1-4 midway through the 2nd quarter. This was a crucial moment for us. We were able to make some plays and close the gap to 3-4 at half time. We then tied the game by the start of the 4th quarter 6-6. We were able to outscore La Serna 2-1 in the final quarter to pull out the victory. La Serna is a solid team, so this was a good victory for us. Stat Leaders: Kristin Moorman (3 goals, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 drawn ejections), Danika Bell (2 goals, 3 assists, 1 steal), Jamison Mahar (1 goal, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Cydney McMorris (1 goal, 1 assist), Saibrah White (1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Destene Albers (1 goal, 4 steals, 1 drawn ejection), Andrea Antonissen (7 saves, 5 steals, 1 assist).
Vs. Redlands East Valley This was an intense defensive struggle the whole game. Although we never trailed, we were never up by more then 2 goals. REV tied the game with ten seconds left to put the game into overtime. Kristin Moorman scored the game winning goal on an assist pass from Danika Bell. King won 4-3. Stat Leaders: Danika Bell (2 goals, 1 assist), Kristin Moorman (2 goals, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Bre Ritter (1 assist, 1 steal), Lauren Bartlett (1 assist, 1 steal), Destene Albers (1 assist, 2 steals, 1 drawn ejection), Andrea Antonissen (12 saves).
vs. Temecula Valley Everybody was able to get lots of minutes during this game. We struggled to put the ball in the cage early, but won the game easily 18-1. Stat Leaders: Destene Albers (5 goals, 3 assists, 5 steals), Saibrah White (4 goals), Lauren Bartlett (1 assist, 1 steal), Alyssa Garside (1 assist), Cydney McMorris (1 goal, 1 assist), Bre Ritter (2 goals, 1 assist, 1 steal), Jamison Mahar (1 goal, 1 assist, 1 steal), Kristin Moorman (1 goal, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 drawn ejection), McKenzie Kelly (1 assist, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Danika Bell (2 goals), Felicia Sloneker (1 goal, 2 assists, 1 drawn ejection), Katie Kuwahara (1 goal, 1 steal), Maddison Morris (3 saves).
@ Santiago January 13th We started off this game very nervous and made some mistakes early. We turned the ball over 6 times in the 1st quarter. We were able to settle down and played some very good water polo during the second quarter and halfway into the third. Then it looked like we tired and made mistakes that allowed the game to get away from us. We eventually lost 15-7. Stat Leaders: Kristin Moorman (3 goals, 1 assist, 2 steals, 3 drawn ejections), Saibrah White (1 goal, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 drawn ejections), Destene Albers (1 goal, 1 assist, 4 steals, 1 drawn ejection), Cydney McMorris (1 goal), Danika Bell (1 assist, 2 steals), Andrea Antonissen (6 saves).
The JV team played well and won. The Frosh/soph team started off a little slow trailing 1-4 at the end of the first, but were able to recover and won 12-6. League play starts January 11th Centennial @ Home Although we would have liked to play a little cleaner of a game without a lot of mistakes, the team did beat Centennial 18-5. This brings our record up to 6-4 and a league record of 1-0. Stat Leaders: Saibrah White (5 goals, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Danika Bell (3 goals, 5 assists), Kristin Moorman (3 goals, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Destene Albers (2 goals, 2 assists, 9 steals), Bre Ritter (1 goal, 2 assists), Lauren Bartlett (1 goal), Cydney McMorris (1 goal, 1 steal, 1 drawn ejection), Jamison Mahar (1 goal, 2 assists, 1 drawn ejection), Felicia Sloneker (1 goal, 2 steals), Andrea Antonissen (6 saves, 2 steals, 1 assist), Maddison Morris (2 saves, 1 steal).

Fall has BegunGirls started practice Monday August 31st. The coaching staff was very pleased and excited (overwhelmed) with how many girls are interested in playing water polo for King this year. There was over 45 girls that were in the pool. The girls will be practicing in the mornings a once or twice a week, as well as after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Everyday the girls will be conditioning during 6th period. With the talent and the numbers that we have, we are excited for the fall off season. This will be a good time to get in shape and learn some basics so that when the winter season starts we will be ready to go. King Has a Good Summer SeasonThere were big changes going into the summer. With a different head coach and some questions marks of who was going to be playing, it was trying at times. Although there were big changes the girls meshed really well and played some good water polo. The coaching staff was very pleased with the progress of the team. There seems to be a lot of talent that will be coming back from last season. Also the freshman class that King has coming in has the potential to be outstanding. We are looking forward to great things this season. Girls keep up the hard work.
