Wolves Finish Third At Rubidoux Relays
After
starting the day wondering if the bus would even show up to take the team to the
relays, the Wolves finished strong with a third place trophy to take home.
King started off the meet with a strong 8x100 IM relay lead by
Jason Kelly and Dayna Van Gorder. The team captured the silver medal in the
second event, the 12x50 freestyle relay, the team shaved almost 45 seconds off
of their previous team record with Kevin Heitmann and Emily Neumann leading the
way. During the third event the Wolves made a couple of mistakes and ended up
with a disqualification. Event four, the girls 6x50 freestyle relay, saw two
bests. The "B" team, lead by Dayna dropped over ten seconds from last
year's time, while the "A" team lead by Mandie Collier dropped three
and captured the Wolves another second place medal.
The boys 6x50 freestyle relay dropped one second from last year,
but finished out of the medals. The progressive relay, in which a boy and a girl
each swim a 50, a 100, and a 200 saw King dominate the competition as they
dropped almost 30 seconds off of last year's time and capture King's lone first
place medal. The breaststroke relay finished out of the medals, but was lead by
Lindsay Nichols and Ryan Biberston. The 8x50 backstroke relay, lead by Becca
Lisonbee and Blake Wager placed second while dropping another 30 seconds off of
King's last year's time.
The last two events were both fun and exciting for the Wolves.
The 8x50 medley relay placed fifth with Stephanie Glendenning and Josh Simpson
leading the team and the 8x50 kickboard relay had a great performance, but
finished out of the medals. Overall, the team performed well and was totally
surprised by the third place finish.
