Michelle Loera Named "Swimmer Of The Meet"; Kevin Heitmann Picked "Swimmer Of The Week"Michelle had a great meet against Charter Oak. She placed 4th in the 100 freestyle and 5th in the backstroke, but it was her 32.7 relay split in the 4x50 freestyle relay and her 1:17.8 relay split in the 4x100 freestyle relay that impressed the coaches. Kevin has not missed a single workout this season. He consistently swims well under what he calls the "adrenaline conditions." (We would call them meets.) His coachablity is tremendous and he is a leader on the team. Congratulations to both Michelle and Kevin! No Comfort In The Charter Oak Meet
The JV started off poorly against the Chargers disqualifying both of their medley relays. The 200 freestyle showed great improvement as the Wolves swept the event with Emily Barnhill, Lauren Boebinger, and Dayna Van Gorder going one, two, three. Dayna and Lauren added to their firsts by contributing to the 4x50 freestyle relay victory (2:20.1) with Sami Chalfy. Lynn Paul placed first in the breaststroke going 42.7. Unfortunately the Wolves lost 65-87. The JV boys consisted of two swimmers Tom O'Donnell and Jesse Young, both swimming in their first meet. Needless to say they were defeated 10-119.
The boys varsity also had some uncomfortable swims. Charlie Holderman swam
and won both the IM A couple of notes: The Wolves had an common bond with Charter Oak HS, Mr. Plutko was the principal there, many, many, many, many years ago. Also, the starter was one of the best the Wolves have had in the two year history of their school, at least that is what Coach Ward said.
